Pizza and marinara sauces are similar but different. I do a thing with the baking soda to step down the acid.

This recipe is all about taste and making a sauce to your taste. I'm just providing a guideline on what i do for my pizza sauce. Take what I'm giving you and make it your own.
You want to dump in some olive oil and the Italian Herbs along with everything but the salt and baking soda and the dill. Stir well.
This should be a small pot because it's only like a cup to a cup and a half of sauce. I take a small three finger pinch of baking soda and mix in for a good 5 minutes, as I bring the sauce up to simmering. This adds some salt while reducing the acidity, if you reach a certain point and go over that limit it will trash the taste to something bad.
Remember grade school science class volcanoes with vinegar and baking soda? You're going to get some bubble action going on.
The Dill you only want a pinch of that as well. I throw it in for a tiny bit of a background of the taste palette. If you have some oregano, thyme, or other herbs you like that would go good in a pizza sauce make a prototype sauce.
